This is my own podcast audio of a topic I'm interested in. School Bus transportation is essential to many student lives in the world but there are so many loops and holes to crawl through in order to have your child attend school by bus. In this short segment, I will be explaining what issues can be found with school bus transportation.

Audio text: How’s it going, everyone. Welcome back to Cal’s podcasts about literally anything. Today I will be talking about public transportation, specifically about school bus transportation.

School buses are used for transporting students from home to school and vice versa. Though, there is a bit of a problem that comes with that fact.

Not everyone is able to ride a bus to school.

There’s a few reasons why this is the case. # 1 being, not everyone gets to have the privilege of getting to ride for free. Public Transportation is never free, but how are you to determine whether or not a school system has free bus transportation? That’s where issue #2 lies.

It is completely dependent on the school district. A reason as to why they would charge the students they want to continue enrolling in their school lies in the fact that most schools happen to be short on budget and this would be an excellent opportunity to gain some quick cash to help secure a proper budget that’ll last. What a good idea, right?

Fortunately, there are some places in the US, especially ones that help out their students when it comes to the affordance of cost or time. Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C. announced an update at the beginning of June in 2018 regarding the kid ’s ride free program, enhancing the programs usage and allowing students in between the ages of five to 21 to ride the bus or rail systems for free so long as they are enrolled in school. No limitations or hidden loopholes whatsoever.

Parents, before deciding on a district for enrolling your child, please think about how transportation is going to affect you in any area you end up living in. This will not only ensure your child enrolls in a school that cares about its students showing up safely, but also creates a better affordance of cost and time on your hands.
